CUSTOMER REVIEW

Antiseptic Bloodbath never lets up. It is a tour de force. And I can't say that "this is the best thrash album ever" but when I do compare it to other albums, I find them coming short.

The music is so dense with ideas every moment every musician is doing something brilliant. this is the most dense album I've heard. Sonically, I mean. The riffs never seem to repeat exactly the same way. You don't notice it at first, but it's bursting with ideas. Now a wasted second. Ted Kirkpatrick is On Fire! Ted... how do you do it? I mean, seriously... how do you do it? You keep getting better!

That's part of the beauty of it, the ideas are fresh. This is an album for musicians to contemplate, and understand and grow into. Antiseptic bloodbath sets the bar very high. I don't think even they can top it, but I hope they try. I hope the other thrash bands are taking note because this is new. It's absolute genius.

Also, the guest guitarists? Best idea. Marty Friedman has one of the best solos, wait, two of the best solos I've heard. So much emotion and technicality. The song "The Maiden..." is actually kind of conventional in parts,(singing section in the middle) but the instrumental sections, inspiring... then blistering!

It's not a simple album. It's not immediately accessible, but it just keeps giving back. Every time I hear it I like it more, and more.

There are some things you might not like: The vocals. The guy who sounds like Gary Lenair? I love this guy. That was such a huge relief to hear, I had to recheck the line up. And the other guy doesn't sound exactly like Guy Ritter, but he has a lot of the same phrasing and he keeps with the spirit of classic tourniquet sound while maintaining his own identity. I like Guy Ritter's vocals, they were creepy and foreboding. But the other dude (Luke Easter?) is good too. The negative press for is exaggerated.

Something else - the acoustic string instruments. Some people aren't ready for that, but they are good. No, they are necessary. Ted Kirkpatrick is a musical genius, and has made some very very good thrash. After years and years of doing it he put in the strings because the music needs it. Without the cellos and whatnot, it doesn't have the depth, or the exploration of motifs. Ask yourself what is Ted trying to convey? Because it's there for a purpose, it's up to you to understand it. It's a huge risk on Tourniquets part, and the took it because they know it's what their songs need.

One last thing - the religion. I am not a religious person, and to some this content may be offensive. And you know what? Good! Slayer does the same thing with horror, Megadeth does it with politics, and Metallica does it with despair. I never apologize for tourniquets views because if you're "tough" enough to stomach "dead skin mask" then your psyche can handle tourniquets angle on religion. If it challenges you, then that's what thrash metal aught to do. And if you're christian, well, this is your just desserts because it's all the riffs and none of the guilt.
