Gammacide combined the speed and violence of the late-'80s thrash movement with the particularly vicious character of the Texas metal scene.\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n  \u003cp\u003e\n    Songs including \u003cstrong\u003e“Endangered Species,” “Fossilized,” “Shock Treatment,” “Gutter Rats,” “Walking Plague,”\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003e“Chemical Imbalance”\u003c\/strong\u003e helped establish the album's distinctive identity. The band's lyrics frequently turn toward contamination, environmental destruction, chemical catastrophe, and humanity's capacity to destroy itself – giving \u003cem\u003eVictims of Science\u003c\/em\u003e a toxic-apocalyptic personality entirely its own.\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n  \u003cp\u003e\n    The original Gammacide run was brief. The band recorded additional material in 1991 before folding in the early 1990s, but \u003cem\u003eVictims of Science\u003c\/em\u003e refused to disappear. Tape traders, collectors, and eventually the internet helped transform the record into a sought-after artifact of underground American thrash.\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n  \u003cp\u003e\n    Guitarists Rick Perry and Scott Shelby would later continue their Texas metal legacy alongside Rigor Mortis vocalist \u003cstrong\u003eBruce Corbitt\u003c\/strong\u003e in Texas Metal Alliance, which evolved into \u003cstrong\u003eWarbeast\u003c\/strong\u003e. Perry has also continued playing with Texas heavy metal band \u003cstrong\u003eIron Jaw\u003c\/strong\u003e.\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n  \u003cp\u003e\n    NoLifeTilMetal Records returned \u003cem\u003eVictims of Science\u003c\/em\u003e to physical media in 2022, and that edition \u003cstrong\u003esold out\u003c\/strong\u003e.
