WOW. that was my first reaction to hearing this album. Pure brutality, pure artistry, pure metal mayehm! A lot of other great death metal was out at the time, that being 1992, Orbituary, Carcass, and Cannibal Corpse all had released steller albums and but the one that has stuck with me, and forever impressed me is Mortifications's "Scrolls. . ."
The album never lets up both musically and lyrically. Topics of the lyrics ranging from loving others, the crucifixion of Jesus, the damned in hell, and the destruction of Satan all come across very intensely clearly. Now i know that many in the metal world do not give much respect to many of the Christians that play metal, and i wonder why, cause with this album Mortification really demonstrate not only a love for Jesus but also a love for PURE BRUTAL DEATH METAL!
I love the entire album ( only a handfull of CD's can i say that about ) but to be reasonable some of the my favorite tracks are: Terminate Damnation, Scrolls of the Megilloth, Necromanicide, and Ancient Prophesy
if you believe is Jesus or not, give this album a shot, it's well produced for the time it was released and still, after 14 years still holds up against many of the TONS of bands i hear every day in the death/grind scene.
A2 Terminate Damnation
A3 Eternal Lamentation
A4 Raise The Chalice
B2 Scrolls Of The Megilloth
B3 Death Requiem
"Ancient Prophecy" track is not present on this release.
