With Fluid, originally released in 1995 on Alarma Records, Knott delivered one of the most intriguing and distinctive albums of his extraordinary career. Alternately aggressive, melodic, unsettling, and beautiful, Fluid refuses to fit comfortably into any single musical category.
The album's origins reach back to the period following Knott's acclaimed recordings The Grape Prophet and Screaming Brittle Siren. Intended as another ambitious rock opera, Fluid became entangled in the collapse of Blonde Vinyl Records and subsequent release delays. By the time the music finally reached listeners, Knott had already moved forward with additional recordings, making Fluid a fascinating missing chapter in his artistic development.
The musical foundation includes Michael Knott on guitars and vocals, Brian Doidge on bass, and Chuck Cummings on drums.
