📖 Full Description:
Originally released in 2000 on the iconic Takehold Records label, New Wave Techno Homicide by Narcissus remains one of the most creative, genre-defying, and emotionally intense albums to emerge from the early 2000s underground heavy music scene. Released during a pivotal moment in the evolution of spirit-filled hardcore, the album stood shoulder-to-shoulder with groundbreaking records by Underoath, Hopesfall, Few Left Standing, and others. But Narcissus forged their own trail—fusing mathcore precision, screamo urgency, industrial textures, and melodic metal with fearless ambition.
The album explores themes of technology, identity, and transcendence, pairing mechanical despair with poetic depth. From punishing breakdowns to spoken-word vulnerability, it’s a body of work that still sounds bold and vital nearly 25 years later. This edition features John Pope on vocals (later of Symphony in Peril) and John LaRussa on guitar (who went on to form Inhale Exhale), with Justin Carroll on bass, Derek Carter on drums, and original mastering by James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Dashboard Confessional).
Following its release, the band hit the road with Underoath, Few Left Standing, and Tantrum of the Muse on the unforgettable 40 Days of Disaster Tour. Now, New Wave Techno Homicide returns in a long-awaited 25th Anniversary Edition—remastered by Rob Colwell and presented with care for a new generation of fans and collectors.
The CD is released by Bombworks Records in a jewel case with an 8-page lyrics insert, limited to 300 copies. The vinyl edition—available for the first time ever—is pressed on Sunflare vinyl by Brutal Planet Records and limited to just 200 copies. Both formats include new reflections by Loyd Harp and Doug Peterson, adding fresh context to an album that helped shape a movement.
“This is the band other bands wanted to emulate. Full stop.”
— Doug Peterson, Down the Line Magazine
