2026 marks 40 years since Stryper unleashed To Hell With The Devil, one of the defining albums in Christian metal history and a landmark release whose influence extended far beyond the Christian music world.
Roxx Records celebrates that anniversary with something very special: Roxx Records Salutes the Soldiers Under Command on the... 40th Anniversary of To Hell With The Devil.
This isn't a conventional reissue of the original Stryper recording. Instead, it's a full-album salute to the music, with a diverse collection of artists offering their own interpretations of the songs that made To Hell With The Devil a classic.
When Roxx Records began reaching out to musicians about participating, the response demonstrated just how much affection remains for this album four decades later. Artists quickly stepped forward to put their own musical stamp on songs that influenced a generation.
The result follows the classic album from beginning to end, opening with Ted Gardner's interpretation of “Abyss” before Reign of Glory attacks the title track, “To Hell With The Devil.”
Becoming Sons takes on “Calling On You,” Latter Reign delivers “Free,” and acclaimed vocalist German Pascual tackles one of Stryper's signature ballads, “Honestly.”
The heavier side of the record is well represented as Testimony of Apocalypse takes on “The Way,” followed by All For The King with “Sing-Along Song,” Undoubting Thomas with “Holdin' On,” and Weapons of God with “Rockin' The World.”
This vinyl edition then offers an important variation from its CD counterpart. Seth Metoyer's “All Of Me (Industrial Mix)” appears exclusively in place of the Rock Edition used on the CD, giving vinyl collectors a genuinely different version of the song.
Motivik delivers “More Than A Man” to complete the To Hell With The Devil album sequence before Severed Angel closes the LP with the bonus track “Soldiers,” saluting the title track from Stryper's earlier Soldiers Under Command album.
The visual presentation received the same attention as the music. The new artwork offers a fresh interpretation of the instantly recognizable angel imagery associated with To Hell With The Devil, reimagined by Bill Bafford and Juan Carlos Arce of Lux Studio specifically for this 40th anniversary celebration.
