STUCK MOJO – VIOLATED: AN EXPLOSIVE CHAPTER IN RAP-METAL HISTORY

Before Pigwalk propelled Stuck Mojo into the next chapter of their career, there was Violated. Originally released in 1996 for the European market, this six-song EP captured the Atlanta powerhouse at a pivotal moment. Their groundbreaking debut, Snappin' Necks, had already established a volatile collision of heavy metal, hardcore attitude, and hip-hop aggression. Violated offered another glimpse of the band's evolving sound while delivering performances that remain fascinating documents of their early years.

At the center of it all is guitarist Rich Ward, whose crushing riffs and muscular grooves became the backbone of Stuck Mojo's unmistakable sound. Paired with Bonz's confrontational rap vocals, Corey Lowery's bass, and Bud Fontsere's driving percussion, the result is a relentless musical attack that refuses to fit comfortably into any one genre. Stuck Mojo weren't simply adding rap vocals to heavy guitars. They were building a musical identity around rhythmic precision, enormous riffs, and sheer physical intensity.

The EP opens with an early recording of "Violated," a song that would subsequently appear on Pigwalk. "U.B.Otch" offers another intriguing piece of Stuck Mojo history, representing an early incarnation of "Back in the Saddle," which would later surface on 1998's Rising. The irreverent "Pizza Man" is a particular treat: short, furious, and full of the personality that made the band's early recordings so memorable. Their interpretation of Black Sabbath's "Sweet Leaf" brings an additional layer of heavy-metal heritage, while live recordings of "F.O.D." and "Monster" capture the raw, unpredictable energy of the band's stage performances.

This limited vinyl edition goes further with three additional tracks. Stuck Mojo attack Iron Maiden's "Wrathchild" and Mötley Crüe's "Shout at the Devil," both featuring guest vocals from the extraordinary Devin Townsend. These performances underline the band's deep metal roots while bringing another distinctive voice into their already explosive sound. Rounding out the collection is "Hate Must Be a Gift" (Demo), offering another glimpse into the band's creative development.

Although much of this material eventually found its way onto expanded CD reissues, Violated deserves recognition as a release in its own right. This Brutal Planet Records Metal Icon Series edition presents all nine tracks on limited Dusk Vinyl, mastered for the format by Rob Colwell. A two-sided insert features photographs, production credits, and revealing new retrospective liner notes from Rich Ward, who recounts the band's early struggles, meeting Bonz, and the formative years that shaped Stuck Mojo.

For longtime fans, this is an opportunity to experience an often-overlooked part of Stuck Mojo's catalog in a dedicated vinyl edition. For collectors discovering the band's early work, Violated delivers a concentrated dose of the riffs, grooves, attitude, and musical ambition that helped establish Stuck Mojo as pioneers of rap-metal.

Limited to only 500 copies worldwide on Dusk Vinyl.
