⚡ ABOUT THE ALBUM

By 1984, Daniel Amos had completed one of the most remarkable transformations in alternative music. The country-rock roots of the band’s earliest recordings were long behind them, replaced by an adventurous collision of new wave, art rock, synthesizers, angular guitars, pop hooks, satire, social commentary, and Terry Scott Taylor’s unmistakable lyrical vision.

Vox Humana is Volume III of Daniel Amos’ celebrated four-album ¡Alarma! Chronicles and one of the most distinctly ’80s albums in the DA catalog.

From “Travelog” and the wonderfully titled “(It’s The Eighties So Where’s Our) Rocket Packs” through “William Blake,” “Dance Stop,” “When Worlds Collide,” “The Incredible Shrinking Man,” and the powerful closing “Sanctuary,” the album examines technology, consumer culture, faith, human isolation, art, and modern life—all filtered through Daniel Amos’ wonderfully unconventional perspective.

Musically, Terry Scott Taylor is joined by Tim Chandler, Ed McTaggart, and Rob Watson, with Greg Flesch contributing lead guitar to selected tracks.

And this Deluxe Edition goes far beyond the original album.

The second CD opens the vault with 17 bonus tracks, including previously unreleased material, acoustic performances, demos, early and raw mixes, alternate versions, and live material. Highlights include an “As The World Turns” demo featuring Jerry Chamberlain, raw mixes of several album favorites, and two additional versions of “Sanctuary,” including a live performance from Flevo ’85.

The physical package is equally impressive: a 6-panel digipak and 24-page booklet packed with original artwork, lyrics, complete credits, rare photographs, DA memorabilia, and the entire text of The ¡Alarma! Chronicles Volume III.

29 tracks. Two CDs. Seventeen bonus tracks. One of Daniel Amos’ essential albums presented as the definitive collector’s edition.
