☢️ Gammacide – Victims of Science
TEXAS THRASH DOESN'T GET MUCH MORE TOXIC THAN THIS!
NoLifeTilMetal Records and Gammacide resurrect the underground thrash classic Victims of Science with a loaded 2026 Collector's Edition featuring a new remaster from the original DAT tapes, six rare bonus tracks, a deluxe 16-page booklet, slipcase, and collectible card.
Gammacide emerged from the brutal Texas metal underground of the 1980s. Following the dissolution of Texas metal pioneers Warlock, guitarist Rick Perry and bassist Eric Roy joined forces with drummer Jamey Milford and vocalist Varnam Ponville. A five-song 1987 demo quickly earned Gammacide a following among underground fanzines and the international tape-trading community.
The arrival of second guitarist Scott Shelby in 1988 completed the classic lineup and transformed Gammacide into a devastating twin-guitar thrash machine.
In the summer of 1989, the band entered Sound Logic Studios in Dallas to record Victims of Science. Released through the cult Wild Rags Records label, the album became an underground favorite and ultimately developed a reputation far beyond the relatively short original lifespan of the band.
Victims of Science is an unrelenting blast of old-school thrash: fast, abrasive, tightly wound, and absolutely loaded with riffs. Gammacide combined the speed and violence of the late-'80s thrash movement with the particularly vicious character of the Texas metal scene.
Songs including “Endangered Species,” “Fossilized,” “Shock Treatment,” “Gutter Rats,” “Walking Plague,” and “Chemical Imbalance” helped establish the album's distinctive identity. The band's lyrics frequently turn toward contamination, environmental destruction, chemical catastrophe, and humanity's capacity to destroy itself – giving Victims of Science a toxic-apocalyptic personality entirely its own.
The original Gammacide run was brief. The band recorded additional material in 1991 before folding in the early 1990s, but Victims of Science refused to disappear. Tape traders, collectors, and eventually the internet helped transform the record into a sought-after artifact of underground American thrash.
Guitarists Rick Perry and Scott Shelby would later continue their Texas metal legacy alongside Rigor Mortis vocalist Bruce Corbitt in Texas Metal Alliance, which evolved into Warbeast. Perry has also continued playing with Texas heavy metal band Iron Jaw.
NoLifeTilMetal Records returned Victims of Science to physical media in 2022, and that edition sold out. With Gammacide active again and bringing their toxic Texas thrash back to stages across the United States, the time was right to make the album available once more – and to make this edition even better.
For the 2026 Collector's Edition, Rob Colwell completely remastered the music from the original DAT tapes, returning to the best available original source rather than simply recycling an older CD master.
The original nine-track album is joined by six bonus tracks from the 1991 and 2005 demos: “Crack Down,” “Ballistic,” “Forces of Nature,” “Sex Cult,” “Against The Grain,” and “Vapor Lock.” Together they expand the CD to 15 tracks and document music from beyond Gammacide's legendary full-length album.
The physical package has been upgraded as well. The CD comes in a jewel case with slipcase and includes a substantial 16-page booklet filled with photos and memorabilia. Collectors also receive card #54 in NoLifeTilMetal's Spikes Up Collector Card Series.
Limited to only 500 copies, this is the definitive NoLifeTilMetal Collector's Edition of one of Texas thrash metal's great underground cult albums – remastered from the original DAT tapes, expanded with six rare bonus tracks, and NOW SHIPPING!
