🔥 About the Album – Guardian: First Watch

Before Guardian became one of Christian hard rock's most recognized bands, there was First Watch. Originally released in 1989 on Enigma Records, this outstanding debut combines hook-filled melodic metal, muscular guitar riffs, soaring harmonies, and the unmistakable sound of late-'80s American hard rock. Produced and mixed by Oz Fox of Stryper, the album remains a favorite among collectors and fans of the genre.

Original vocalist Paul Cawley delivers gritty, expressive lead vocals while guitarist Tony Palacios steals the show with his fluid solos, memorable riffs, and exceptional melodic instincts. Bassist David Bach and drummer Rikk Hart provide the powerful rhythmic foundation. The results speak for themselves on songs like "I'll Never Leave You," "Mystery Man," "Saints Battalion," "Kingdom of Rock," and "One of a Kind."

First Watch has earned a lasting reputation as one of the finest Christian melodic metal albums of its era. AngelicWarlord.com ranked it #5 on its Top 50 Christian Metal & Hard Rock Albums of the Eighties, recognizing the exceptional songwriting, guitar work, and memorable hooks that have helped the album stand the test of time.

This Retroactive Records Legends Remastered Edition features all 12 tracks from the original album sequence plus two historically significant bonus recordings from the 1987 California Metal compilation sessions: "Spiritual Warfare" and an earlier recording of "Marching On." Both were produced by John and Dino Elefante, giving collectors a fascinating glimpse of Guardian before its Enigma Records debut.

Remastered by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound, this 14-track edition comes packaged in a jewel case with a 12-page booklet featuring lyrics, band photographs, and exclusive liner notes from David Bach about the making of the album.
