LUST CONTROL - WE ARE NOT ASHAMED: GETTING IT RIGHT THE SECOND TIME (*NEW-CD, 2006, Retroactive)

Lust control is an odd animal. The core of LC is punk. They get the general feel and energy right while putting in a heavy dose of disdain for the norm and dogma. But their heart is spiritual and positive. I am not sure how they pull it off, but it does work. The lyrics are biting, evocative and often hilarious; and the music has the raw freedom of what good punk is supposed to be. However, it leaves you feeling positive after a good listen; not angry and strung out. Don't get me wrong, the Ramones rule. But when you want some punk that gets you focused in the right direction, this is it.

This is sort of a second-round greatest hits. It covers everything from self gratification to Amy Grant. The choices of songs are fun and not too preachy. You will get something new out of this every time you listen. Pick it up and start offending yourself today.

If you like crossover bands like DRI, MOD, and The Lead, you will love Lust Control musically - I would also compare them to Overkill - very thrashy metal punk inspired rock and roll!
