Originally released in 1983 on Sparrow Records, this landmark album marked a significant shift in Camp’s musical direction—delivering a harder, rock-driven sound compared. It's bold, it's passionate and one of Camp’s most celebrated works, earning a spot on CCM Magazine’s The 100 Greatest Albums. We sparred no expense including giving this the coveted Girder treatment and even communicated with the artist for their input. But there is only 500 of these made. So if you want one you best be first in-line at midnight.
The album features hits like Upon This Rock, Fire and Ice, What Would the Devil Say, Light Your Candle, addressing themes of faith, conviction, and the struggles of Christian life, Fire and Ice remains one of the most impactful albums in Christian rock history.
What many fans may not realize is the incredible talent behind Fire and Ice. Rob Frazier, the vocalist from **Petra’s **Washes Whiter Than album and a respected solo artist, co-wrote many of the songs on this record. His songwriting helped shape the album’s powerful message and musical intensity.
Additionally, Dann Huff, legendary guitarist for White Heart and later the hard rock band GIANT, played guitar on this album. Known for his jaw-dropping skill and ability to bring an electrifying energy to any song, Huff’s contributions are a major reason why Fire and Ice rocks as hard as it does. With Huff’s searing guitar work and Frazier’s compelling songwriting, Fire and Ice was destined to be a classic.
But the real mastermind behind Fire and Ice was none other than Steve Camp himself. Without his undying passion for Christ and commitment to musical excellence, this album would not have left the lasting impact that it did. His fearless approach to faith-driven rock set a new standard, and we, as fans, owe Steve a big thank you for creating such a powerful and timeless record.
