🔥 About the Album – Leviticus: MMXXIV
More than four decades after forming in Sweden, Christian heavy metal pioneers LEVITICUS reunite their original lineup for MMXXIV, a four-song collection of brand-new material released on limited-edition 12-inch, 45 RPM vinyl. Featuring Björn Stigsson, Håkan Andersson, and Kjell Andersson together again, the EP returns to the band's early roots with all four songs performed entirely in Swedish.
Formed in Skövde, Sweden, in 1981, Leviticus helped establish Christian hard rock and heavy metal in Europe. Led by guitarist and songwriter Björn Stigsson, the band developed an international following through albums including I Shall Conquer, The Strongest Power, Setting Fire to the Earth, and Knights of Heaven. Their music combined the guitar-driven power of traditional heavy metal with strong melodies and an unmistakable Christian message.
For MMXXIV, Stigsson reunites with original bassist and lead vocalist Håkan Andersson and drummer Kjell Andersson. Together, they deliver four completely new songs that recapture the band's early Swedish-language identity and classic 1980s-inspired sound. The music features memorable guitar work, traditional hard rock arrangements, and lyrics addressing faith, forgiveness, praise, and hope.
The songs "Med Lyfta Händer," "Jag Fäster Blicken," "Fyll Dina Tankar," and "Leva Livet" were written by Björn Stigsson and arranged by the band. Stigsson also handled production, mixing, and mastering at BTS Studios, bringing the original trio together in a new chapter of Leviticus history.
Released by Talking Music in October 2024, MMXXIV is presented as a limited-edition 12-inch Maxi-EP playing at 45 RPM. Imported from Sweden and available in limited quantities in the United States, this vinyl edition is a special collector's release for longtime Leviticus fans and anyone who appreciates classic European Christian hard rock.
